Analysis in foundries and literary references conclude that 45 to 55 % of rejects can be attributed to variations in the moulding technology and composition. Differences in quality in the composition of moulding materials can be attributed up to 10 to 20 % to the inaccuracy of the additions and changing intensities of the mould material processing, up to 20 to 25 % to the fluctuating qualities of the raw materials and up to 40 to 60 % to the modified compositions of recycled used sand due to variable thermal conditions.
These problems are intensified by the high manufacturing speed in modern, flexible moulding plants.
